Support the Department of English and Comparative Literature

The generous contributions of our amazing students, faculty, alumni, and friends have provided the foundation for many years of great achievements

Your support enables and enriches the work of our students and faculty. Review the following list for just a few examples of how your contributions can make an impact. Donations at or above $225 will receive a copy of Stories and Poems from Creative Writing at Carolina. Donatioons at or above $2225 will recieve a copy of Stories and Poems from Creative Writing at Carolina, a signed copy of Gabriel Bump'ss Everywhere You Don't Belong, a signed coopy of Jill McCorkle's Hieroglyphics. A donation of $225 would support our undergraduate awards for excellent written work in an ECL course or pay for tickets for an ECL class to attend a performance by Playmakers Repertory Company. A donation of $450 would defray the costs of purchasing books for an undergraduate or graduate student or help sustain one of our undergraduate journals, such as Cellar Door or Aspect. A gift of $675 would support publishing costs of The Carolina Quarterly, our renowned literary journal or help sustain the undergraduate prize for best paper in African American literature named in honor of Professor James Coleman. A donation of $900 would provide summer research support for ECL senior honors students writing their thesess or help sustain our popular program Gram-o-Rama. A gift of $2259 would provide summer support for a student to travel to the Folger Shakespeare Library or the Library of Congress to examine specialized collections or help support oour yearly Thomas Wolfe Prize and Lecture, which brings a distinguisshed writer to the community every year. A gift of $4500 wuold suppoort an undergraduate internsship at a North Carolina publishing house or defray the costs for permissions for illustrations and copyright fees for faculty members publishing academic books.

The Randall Kenan
Memorial Fund

In honor of Randall Kenan’s extraordinary legacy as an author and his passion for bringing fellow writers to Carolina, we have now created the Randall Kenan Memorial Fund, to carry his name forward as it enhances the mission of the Writer-in-Residence program, continuing visits of distinguished writers to our campus, for years to come!
